Highlights from South West Games

We had a little bit of rain Saturday for the Junior competition, but it cleared up enough for everyone to get burnt!  We had a fabulous day with lots of teams in Under 8, Under 10 and Under 15’s.

3 Hamilton Teams made it into the finals between Juniors & Seniors and unfortunately we didn’t have a win, but I’m sure everyone had a great time versing teams from across the South West (including Mt Gambier).  So a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who travelled to make the tournament fun for all!!

Here is our President Julie Pickering with South West Games Ambassador & Bronze Medal winner Melissa Tapper and Patron Geoff Mibus awarding the the medals to our Junior winners in the Saturday competition.

WDSL 2014 Finals!!!!

2014 has been another HUGE year of soccer for both the Senior & U/15 Teams in the Warrnambool District Soccer League!

The Seniors did a tremendous job getting sooo close to the grand final, just getting knocked out at the very end of the season.  Well done to all the players!!

Under 15 made it to the grand final for 2014 and played Merri Stingrays.

After entering the ground to “Rocky” they all stood for the National Anthem…1The boys were all ready to go2

We must give a HUGE thank you to our wonderful coach Steve who put so much thought and effort into the season, all the boys turning up to training and giving their all when asked and to our Under 15 Major Sponsor Manse Medical (the uniforms look great!)

We look forward to seeing everyone at our Presentation Dinner on Friday 17th of October @ the Hamilton Harness Club.  More information will follow regarding this.

Country Championships 2014

This year the Country Championships were held in Ballarat from 28th to 30th of June.  Hamilton sent along 7 players who played alongside the Warrnambool and Corangamite boys.  5 in Under 15 and 2 in under 12.

The weather was miserable, but spirits were high and the boys certainly gave it their all!  Dylan was the only scorer out of the Hamilton kids and it was certainly a brilliant goal!

There was lots of stiff competition at the tournament and it was great to meet other teams from across Victoria.

Henry and Callum played in goals and stopped quite a few shots while Dylan and Jack played wing, Nathan played centre back and centre forward while Aiden played centre back and half back.  Will played right back and did a brilliant job earning captain on the 2nd day of play.

It was wonderful seeing a sea of red Hamilton jackets down in Ballarat, we were certainly dryer than everyone else and it was so much easier to find anyone from Hamilton!  It was also great to have the support of our President who came down to watch and show her support!  A huge thanks to everyone who participated in the weekend and all the weeks training leading up to the tournament, it was fantastic!

Dylan Mooney scored a brilliant goal day 3 of the tournament. Aiden Porter defended strongly throughout the tournament.

This week…

Thank goodness the sun was shining in Hamilton this week for soccer!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Under 12’s had a spectacular game, blue team 1, white team nil.  Very close!  Everyone had their ‘eye on the ball’.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The under 8’s always have a fabulous time, getting in there, going for goals and not afraid to take a dive for the ball!  Great job!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

At the end of soccer each week every age level has awards for best on field for the day!  Thanks to our wonderful sponsors Hamilton McDonalds.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And for the parents……COFFEE!!  Java Jive keep us going!

Mother’s Day @ the Soccer

Mother’s Day this year was a glorious day, sun shining and a lovely drive to Scotts Creek.

image 2 smlThe Under 15s started with a warm up for their first game of the season.

image 1 sml  image 3 smlThe team captain this year is Nathan, this will be his third and final season in Under 15s.  He is sporting the brand new uniforms proudly sponsored by Manse Medical.

The mums celebrated the day with home~made scones!

….. and so did the kids!

Scotts Creek may be a bit of a drive for a game of soccer, but when you are rewarded at the end with a trip down the gorgeous Great Ocean Road, or lunch @ Port Campbell or ice cream & coffee at the Timboon Distillery it is well worth the day out!  It helps too when the Under 15s and the seniors won their games.  It was a great day had by all!
